Since its establishment, the United Nations has been tasked with continuously exploring new areas of work that were not envisioned at the time of its founding. The United Nations sets goals and strives to build a more sustainable world. Member states have also reached a consensus to take collective action to mitigate climate change. The problems faced by humanity are becoming increasingly complex, and the scope of work of the United Nations is also expanding accordingly.
